A Zine (mini-magazine) created by AIDS Care Ocean State's (ACOS) youth group, Solace, is now available. Solace is a group of young adults, age 12-18, who were either born HIV-positive or were diagnosed as young adults. Each person created a page expressing their views and telling their stories with images and poetry.
Mac MacDougall, artist and employee of ACOS, helped the group express their stories. "There was a desire to create the Zine because they wanted to tell others what they knew about HIV and how they felt, in their own words, because they live with it everyday. This is the stuff that isn't in the textbooks, taught in health education classes in schools, or for the most part, talked about. This is their story."

Mac is a graduate of Worcester State College and The Art Institute of Florida. Mac currently specializes in abstract / expressionist art, commissioned paintings, prints and functional art, including chessboards and school desks.
